Katrina Hodgkinson takes Collector to Parliament!
Katrina Hodgkinson, MP Member for Burrinjuck, answered our call for support and asked a list of Legislative Assembly Questions regarding Collector Creek
"Question asked on 22 June 2010 (session 54-1) and published in Questions & Answers Paper No. 211. No answer has been printed" - You can read the "Question on Notice" Legislative Assembly document here
Our heads have been spinning trying to keep up with the media interest in our story this week. One of the most notable Council interviews this week was on Radio ABC666 with Mayor John Shaw. During the interview Mayor Shaw made seemingly conflicting statements - one being that the Collector Creek Bridge "sit's like an island, it's out of the water, water goes round both sides of it" (in floods), and then later in the same interview, adding that the "top metre of the bridge is an obstruction itself, it acts like a dam, and the guardrail on the bridge as well". You can listen to the complete Mayor John Shaw interview here
No Care, No Responsibility?
Seemingly behaving on directives from who knows where, based on reports that nobody is willing to own up to, Council is wasting no time pulling the old Collector Bridge apart - it does beg the question - "What's the hurry Council?!"
After enquiring about what will happen to the wood from the bridge, we were informed by council workmen that they had been told to tell anyone that asked that it will be locked away in the compound and will be for sale by tender(!)

Welcome to Collector
We can only guess if this concrete box culvert (pictured right - click to enlarge) is the same style as the one slated for Collector Creek, as we still have not been supplied with any diagrams of the proposed structure. From the information gleaned from the only report we were allowed to access (the proposed culvert will have only two boxes open for water to trickle through, the rest will be filled in like a dam) it should be very close, if not the same as the one intended for the bed of Collector Creek.

"What a ridiculous and obviously money saving idea by the council. Stepping back 130 years to the original low level crossing. Having witnessed many large floods and the water entering my Grandparent's nearby home (old Lynwood Cafe) a low level crossing is an unreal decision"
Mrs Jennifer Humphries nee Poidevin, Goulburn Save Collector Creek online petition
Safety concerns...
No "Bridge Closed" signs on Federal Highway for Ambulances, etc.
No creek-side resident flood escape plan
Creek already being polluted by demolition materials, fires, etc.
